MAR. 31 — Yoder Announces Signing of David Horst

Dalton High School (Ohio) standout to join Maple Leafs

GOSHEN, Ind. — Goshen College Interim Athletic Director and Head Cross Country Coach Doug Yoder has announced that David Horst has signed a national letter of intent to continue his career at Goshen.

Horst, a standout distance runner at Dalton High School (Dalton, OH), will participate in cross country and track for the Maple Leafs in 2008-09.

"David is a good developing runner that will be one of our top 10 runners," said Yoder, of his first official signing for the 2008-09 squad. "He will only get better as he matures and gets stronger."

Horst will complete a successful tenure at Dalton this spring, including improving his five-kilometer times by almost six minutes in his four-year career.

Horst, who will join sister Tessa on the Goshen cross country team in the fall, was also successful in the classroom. Part of the National Honor Society, Horst also serves as Senior Class Vice President.

"He brings a good work ethic and is a good student," adds Yoder. "I look forward to David being a part of the team with a great returning nucleus that will provide him insight into the collegiate level of competition."
