APR. 21 — Pettisville Setter Latest To Sign With Maple Leafs

Ohio Native Joins Senior Setters On 2009 Goshen Roster

GOSHEN, Ind. – As the 2009 Goshen College volleyball roster continues to come together, the Maple Leafs announced their latest addition in Pettisville (Ohio) High School standout Karina Rohrer-Meck.

A 5-foot, 7-inch setter, Rohrer-Meck joins Bethany Christian standout Hannah Grieser and new head coach Jim Routhier to a program that reached the Mid-Central College Conference semifinals in 2008 and returns all but one player from that roster.

“Karina is a wonderful addition to the roster for the fall,” said Jewel Lehman, who was the head coach of the Leafs for the past five years before resigning this spring to focus on academic endeavors. “She will work with the new coaches and current senior setters [Lindsey Nofziger and Allison Hawkins] to learn the tactical aspects of running the offense at this level.”

As a senior at Pettisville, Rohrer-Meck was among the conference leaders with 352 assists and a 98% setting percentage. She also ranked among the area’s elite servers with 45 aces.

“Karina is such a well-rounded individual coming from a background of success on the court and in the classroom,” Lehman said. “Her vibrant personality and strong character will be an asset to the team as well as the larger campus community.”

“I am looking forward to having the chance to play at the next level at Goshen where I fell in love with the atmosphere on my first visit,” Rohrer-Meck said of her decision. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to play with such great girls and where faith is important on and off the court.”
