WEST LAFAYETTE , Ind. – The Goshen College women's track and field team took a week off from NAIA competition as several members participated in the NCAA DI Boilermaker Invite at Purdue University on Saturday.
Flexing her strength once again was junior Deanna Kronk. Kronk finished runner-up in the weight throw launching the 20-pound weight 50'7 1/2" and in the shot put with a throw of 39'2 1/4". The NorthWood High grad finished behind only Purdue's Stacey Wannemacher, who was a 2007 NCAA DI National Championship participant.
"Her toss in the weight throw was her second best of the indoor season," explained Head Coach Rick Clark. "She presently is ranked seventh nationally in the event among the 127 NAIA schools competing in indoor track and field."
Freshman, and Maple Leaf volleyball standout, Penina Acayo placed in the top three in all three of her jumping events. The Kampala, Uganda native grabbed a third-place finish in the high jump with a personal best jump of 5'1/4". She also placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 31'8 1/2" and fourth in the long jump at 16'5 3/4".
Also participating at the event was junior Abri Houser, who finished the day with three fifth-place finishes.
