Findlay, OH – Several members of the Goshen College men’s track and field team got the 2008 indoor season underway by competing at the University of Findlay’s Indoor Classic Friday evening.
Senior Justin Hochstetler turned in a solid performance in the weight throw. Despite finishing near the middle of the pack, the Orrville, Ohio native, launched the 35-pound weight 48’8”. The mark came short of his personal best by just five inches.
The Maple Leafs distance runners also got their first look at competition as they competed in the 5000-meter run and the distance medley.
Senior Jake Gillette, a NAIA marathon national contender in 2007 (click here for related article), posted the low time for Goshen with a time of 16:33.90 in the 5000-meter event. Sophomore Nick Bouwman and senior Nick Adkins followed with times of 16:46.37 and 16:48.56, respectively.
The Maple Leafs head back to the track on Saturday as they take part in the Taylor Invite in Upland, Indiana
