| GOSHEN, Ind. — An Illinois high school state qualifier, Laura Krabill (Tiskilwa, Ill.) has signed a national letter of intent to join the Goshen College women’s tennis team, Maple Leaf Head Coach Sarah Yoder announced Tuesday,
Playing at No. 1 singles, Krabill rattled off a 21-14 record as a senior to lead Princeton High School to a 10-4 record. After finishing fourth in the sectional tournament, she became the first Princeton women’s tennis player to qualify for the state tournament since 2004.
“I am very excited about having Laura join our program next fall,” said Yoder. “She just completed an impressive high school career and will step into our lineup and make an impact right away.”
Despite playing with tendonitis for much of the season, Krabill – a team captain and most valuable player – lost just two matches during conference play. The soon-to-be Maple Leaf was named Player of the Year by both the Bureau County Republican and the NewsTribune newspapers in Northern Illinois.
Also an outstanding student, Krabill was named to the all conference All-Academic Team. “Her strong academic achievement is also commendable,” said Yoder. “Laura is exactly the type of student-athlete Goshen College strives for.”
