2007 Coaching Staff

Head Coach Stan King

Stan King enters his ninth season as the head coach for men’s tennis at Goshen College in 2007. King led a rebuilding team to an impressive 6-5 overall record last season and boasts a career 43-44 team record in eight seaons as head coach of the Leafs.

King is a 1961 Goshen College graduate and played number one singles and doubles in each of his four years at the institution. For the past eight spring seasons King has also coached the Goshen High School girls’ tennis squad, where his teams have won two sectional titles and one regional championship. His team has also shared the Northern Lakes Conference title in 1999.

In 1997 King retired from a 30-year career as a research plant pathologist, most of which was spent living and working in developing countries in the semi-arid tropics. During most of these years King was able to remain active in competitive tennis, participating in tournaments in India, Kenya and Nigeria.

King and his wife, Bonnie, now reside in Goshen. Both their sons attended Goshen College. Their younger son, David, graduated in 2000 after a successful year as a member of the men’s tennis team during his dad’s first year at the helm.
