2007 Coaching Staff

Head Coach Thavisith Mounsithiraj

Thavisith Mounsithiraj begins his sixth season as head coach of the women's soccer program at Goshen College in 2007. In his first five seasons at the helm, Mounsithiraj led his team to a combined record of 24-56-5.

Prior to arriving at Goshen, Mounsithiraj was the head girls’ soccer coach at Northridge High School (Middlebury, IN), compiling an overall record of 67-42-5 during his eight-year tenure there. His teams twice won the Northern Lakes Conference Championship (1997 and 1998) and he was named the NLC Coach Of The Year two times, in 1998 and 2000.

Mounsithiraj, who graduated from Goshen College in 1992, was a three-year letterwinner in men’s soccer for the Leafs, including serving as team captain during his senior year. In addition to holding a NSCAA regional coaching license, Mounsithiraj has served as a coach at the Notre Dame Soccer Camps during summer months. He coaches at the Goshen campus with Thavisak Mounsithiraj, his older brother, serving as the head coach of the men’s soccer team.

In addition to his undergraduate psychology degree from Goshen in 1992, Mounsithiraj obtained his master’s degree in school counseling from Indiana University in 1998. He is currently employed as a guidance counselor at Northridge High School. He resides with his wife, Jean, and their four children Tyler (nine), Annie (seven), Kate (five) and Molly (four) in Goshen.

Assistant Coach Tera Furman

Tera Furman begins her fourth season as an assistant coach in 2007, following a stellar playing career at Goshen College. Furman (formerly Tera Franklin), a four-year starter, was a two-time All-Mid-Central Conference selection following her junior and senior seasons. She served as team captain during her final three seasons in uniform and was generally regarded by conference coaches as one of the hardest working players on the field.

Furman assists in multiple aspects of the program, including on the field coaching, recruiting and opponent scouting.

A multi-talented athlete, Furman was also a four-year starter for the Goshen College softball team and helped lead that squad to an MCC Championship in 2001. She also was a walk-on member of the 2003-2004 Goshen College women’s basketball team, a squad that won both the regular season and conference tournament MCC championships.

Originally from Logansport, Indiana, Furman was recently married to Goshen College sports information director and head men's golf coach Cory Furman. The couple reside in Goshen.

Assistant Coach Molly Kauffman

Molly Kauffman begins her first season as an assistant women’s soccer coach in 2007, returning to the program in an official capacity after volunteering on a part-time basis during the 2006 season.

Kauffman, a four-year center midfielder for the Leafs, concluded an impressive career in 2006. Known for her strong leg and a penchant for providing opportunities for others on the field, Kauffman finished her career with five points as a senior (two goals and an assist), the second-highest point total on the squad that year.

“Molly brings a familiarity to our program and has a great working relationship with our girls,” said Thavisith Mounsithiraj, Goshen head coach. “She was a very talented player in her day, and will impart valuable knowledge in her coaching role.”

Kauffman currently works as a teacher at Goshen Middle School. She is single and resides in Goshen.
