Alex Childers made his Maple Leaf and collegiate coaching debut in 2011. In doing so, he was reunited with both Goshen College and head coach Eric Screeton. Childers played high school ball with Screeton at New Haven High School under legendary coach Dave Bischoff.
As a collegiate player, Childers played at both Goshen and Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Ill.). In 2007 he received a bachelor's in Business Management from ONU, where he also played volleyball.
Childers returned to New Haven where he spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach, helping the Bulldogs to a semi-state appearance. He has worked as an instructor with Swing Kings LLC, The World Baseball Academy and The Bill Jones league as well as various coaching assignments with The Eric Wedge Camps, Notre Dame Baseball Camps, collegiate summer leagues and various other youth leagues. He is also an active member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
At Goshen, Childers will take on primary roles on the defensive side of the game, practice planning, recruiting and other various administrative tasks.
