SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Goshen College sophomore Tina Peters was profiled by the South Bend Tribune newspaper in today's issue. Peters, from Yellow Springs, Ohio, is already a three-time NAIA National Champion in the 3,000-meter racewalk.
As a freshman, Peters set new standards as she won both the indoor national championship (click here for related article) and outdoor national championship (click here for related article).
She defended her indoor national title this year by winning the 3K race by nearly a minute and a half (click here for related article). Already the holder of three of Goshen's College's seven individual national championships, Peters' is not even halfway done with her collegiate career.
Looking to broaden her career outside of the collegiate ranks, Peters took part in trials for the Race Walking World Cup two weeks ago in Oregon. In her first-ever competition at the Olympic distance of 20-kilometers, Peters finished just two minutes off the Olympic trials qualifying mark.
It will be a busy spring for the sophomore as she looks to not only defend her NAIA outdoor national title, but also seeks a berth into the trials for the U.S. Olympic Team.
