Turf Training Facility

Location: West end of Roman Gingerich Recreation-Fitness Center.
Dimensions: 70 feet by 100 feet

The Goshen College Turf Training Facility provides Maple Leaf athletic teams with an indoor practice space in the Roman Gingerich Recreation-Fitness Center. The 7,000-square-foot space opened in February 2015.

The room plays host to a variety of activities, including a varsity weight room. Batting cages allow the baseball and softball teams space to hit during the winter months. With the cages retracted to one side, a variety of storage facilities permit the area to be used by any one of numerous groups. The men's and women's soccer teams host small-sided games and technical training, throwers in the track and field programs hold practice, and the baseball and softball teams have space to take infield, in addition to an assortment of kinesiology classes.

Perhaps the most important function of the room, however, is to open up Gunden Gymnasium for greater availablility to intramurals and community members.

While general admission to the Recreation-Fitness Center does not include admission to the Turf Training Facility, the space is available for rent by community groups. For more information, contact RFC director Josh Keister at (574) 535-7475 or joshdk@goshen.edu.
