Athlete of the Week

GOSHEN, Ind. – For the second-straight week a men's basketball player has been named the Maple Leaf Athlete of the Week.  Junior Mike Betcher (Schoolcraft, Mich.) takes the latest honor for action between November 6-12, 2011.

Betcher recorded back-to-back double doubles this week in two Goshen wins. He scored a game-high 21 points (11 in overtime) in an upset of #6 ranked and defending national champion Cornerstone University on the road Tuesday night and followed it with a dominating 16 point (also game high), 15 rebound performance at home Saturday against IU South Bend.

On the week, he averaged 18.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and hit 89.5% from the free throw line.

The Maple Leaf Athlete of the week is sponsored by Springer Design, Inc. and is chosen each Monday by a committee of Goshen College personnel.
