student athlete blog
Student.Athlete.Blog was created as a way for you to hear more about the things happening with your favorite Maple Leaf teams and student-athletes on and off the court, field, track, or course.  It also gives our student-athletes the opportunity to tell more of their story.  The blog will be updated twice a week throughout the academic year so please check back regularly.

NOVEMBER 14 - Q and A with Tyra Carver (women's basketball)

HOME:
What do you miss most about home?
Being around my family everyday.
Were you homesick at all when you initially came to college?
I wasn't really homesick until March.
How does Goshen compare?
Goshen is a lot smaller than my city, so it was pretty hard to adjust being in a small city.
Favorite thing to do at home?
Go to the park and hoop with all of my friends.
Hobbies?
Basketball, bowling, video games.

SPORTS:
How is your season going?
Season is going good so far.
How does this season compare to previous?
This season differs because now everyone is on the same page. We all are willing to work and do what we need to do to get more wins.
Best memory playing basketball? (life)
Best memory would be beating two teams my senior year in high school who I had never beaten in my high school career.
Are there any specific basketball players you look up to?
I look up to Allen Iverson, Maya Moore, Carmelo Anthony, and Simone Augustus.
Future basketball goals?
My future basketball goals would be to compete overseas
Favorite NBA player?
Favorite NBA player would be Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, Allen Iverson, and Dominique Wilkins.

TEAM:
Funniest Teammate?
Jo'Mani and Jaime
How does this team's chemistry compare to your other years?
We've spent a lot of time in the off season together, and we all made a natural connection which is pretty rare between a group of females.
Favorite teammate?
I don't really have a favorite teammate, everyone is equal to me.
What annoys you most on the court?
When our energy drops and we all stop talking.

PERSONAL:
Plans after Goshen?
After Goshen I plan on going overseas to play ball for a few years, then getting in coaching college basketball.
If you could live in one place anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to live in Durham, North Carolina right next to Duke University.
When your career is done at Goshen, how do you want to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as a well respected student athlete who dominated in the classroom and as well as on the court.
