Head Coach- 7th Season

The seventh head coach in the GC women’s basketball program’s 51-year history, 1997 Michigan State University graduate Stephanie Miller begins her sixth year with the Maple Leafs in 2016-17. Through five seasons, she led the team to a 55-102 mark.

Miller was named Crossroads League co-coach of the year in 2015-16 after the Maple Leafs set a school record with 27 wins, advancing to the Fab Four of the NAIA Division II National Tournament for the first time in program history. The team—picked to finish seventh in the league in the preseason coaches’ poll—won a program-record 15 Crossroads League games, taking second place, and hosted a CL tournament matchup for the first time since 2004. The 2004 team was also the only previous squad to qualify for nationals.

Miller’s players have earned eight all-conference honors, seven conference player of the week victories, and five Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete certificates; four of her players have scored 1,000 points.

In 2014-15, Miller led the Maple Leafs to an 18-13 record, Goshen’s first winning season in 10 years, improving on a 4-26 mark the year before. Her team finished 9-9 in Crossroads League play, went on a seven-game winning streak for the first time since 2004, and reached the conference quarterfinals for the first time since 2008.

Her most recent job before Goshen was at Hill McCloy High School in Montrose, Michigan, where she posted a .655 winning percentage and coach 15 future collegiate athletes; between 2000 and 2011, she coached basketball for 11 years and softball for five.

The Grosse Ile, Michigan, native also coached high-level AAU basketball for nearly ten years in several age brackets. Her Michigan Spartans 16U team were national runner-ups in 1998 and she reached the state tournament three times. She has also been a camp site director for McCracken Basketball Camps since 1992.
