GOSHEN, Ind. –Two members of the Goshen College women’s basketball team were honored by the Mid-Central College Conference as announced by league officials this weekend.
Freshman Cassie Greives was one of five members selected to the MCC All-Newcomer team after she averaged 12.9 points and 7.2 rebounds a game. The six-foot center’s scoring average was eighth in the conference and tops among freshman.
Greives was also second in the conference in rebounding and field goal percentage. The Rochester, Indiana native’s 54.3% shooting percentage ranks #14 in all of NAIA DII.
Also receiving recognition from the MCC was senior Katie Sowers. Sowers was named a MCC Academic All-Conference, which is awarded to full-time juniors and seniors who carry a 3.4 or higher grade point average for the entire year. On the court, Sowers averaged 7.8 points and 5.1 rebounds a contest.
The Maple Leafs, at 11-18 (5-11 MCC), are seeded #8 for the MCC Tournament which begins on Tuesday. They will travel to take on top-seeded Bethel College (26-3, 15-1) at 7 p.m. in Mishawaka.
