GOSHEN, Ind. – Not until after a season is complete can you really look back and appreciate what has happened as a team and the individuals that made it work. The Goshen College women’s basketball team took a chance to do that as they came together for an annual recognition night this weekend.
Referring to them as “player recognition in areas of special emphasis by our team,” Head Coach Steve Wiktorowski had his player’s vote for the honors that are non-statistical in nature.
Team Ambassador: Krystal Duensing and Lindsay Gangloff
The team ambassador – or in this case, ambassadors – are the individuals that represent the team in a class manner on and off the court and was given to junior Krystal Duensing and sophomore Lindsay Gangloff.
Academics: Krystal Duensing
A junior biology major, Duensing was voted by her teammates as the student-athlete who shows great dedication or improvement in her studies.
GCTD: Erica Emanuel
The GCTD is given to the student-athlete who shows great commitment and effort towards playing “team defense”. Selected by her teammates, freshman Erica Emanuel was all over the court in defense that thrived when it was aggressive and attacking in style.
Leaf Belief: Lindsay Gangloff
Given to sophomore Lindsay Gangloff, the Leaf Belief recognizes an athlete who remains very positive and optimistic and shows compassion during difficult times.
Most improved: Kendra Fights
Recognized by her teammates as the one who developed their game the most during the course of the season was junior Kendra Fights. Fights hit 40% from three-point territory this year, which is the ninth best single-season percentage in Goshen College history. |
