GOSHEN, Ind. – Two members of the Goshen College
men’s basketball team were selected to the All Mid-Central
College Conference Teams as announced by league officials
this weekend.
After averaging a league-high 23.8 points a game, sophomore
guard Errick McCollum was named first-team all
conference. After a stellar freshman campaign that saw him
average 18.5 points and 5.3 rebounds a game, McCollum
earned MCC Newcomer of the Year and MCC 2nd-Team
Honors. McCollum followed his freshman year up this
season by scoring twenty of more points in 12-of-16 conference
games as a sophomore.
The Canton, Ohio native scored a conference season-high
34 points on 11-of-20 shooting in the league opener, a 81-73 home win over then NAIA #5 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University.
Also garnering MCC recognition was 6’6” senior Brice Hartman. The forward backed up his MCC Honorable
Mention junior season by averaging 16.7 points and 4.5 rebounds a night. Highlighting his senior season was a
career-high 27-point outburst over Marian College, which included 16 points in the final seven-plus of regulation
to send the Maple Leafs to an overtime victory.
Goshen, with a record of 19-11 (7-9 MCC), received the #7 seed heading into this week’s MCC Conference
Tournament. The Maple Leafs will travel to second-seed Grace (22-8, 11-5 MCC). The two clubs split their
MCC match ups this season with each team winning at home.
Kyle Johnson scored a game-high 21 points for the Lancers in a 74-68 Grace win in Winona Lake on January
12th. In their latest battle, Goshen came out on top 81-78 behind 21 points from sophomore Nate West Jr.
The opening round contest of the MCC Tournament is schedules to tip off at 7 p.m. in Winona Lake. For complete
