Cross Country and Track Adds Concord's Andrew Witkowski
GOSHEN, Ind. - With the track season wrapping up next week at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships and planning well underway for the 2010 cross country season, the Goshen College Athletic Department is pleased to announced the signing of Andrew Witkowski for the two programs.
"Andrew will be a great addition to the cross country and track programs," said head cross country coach Doug Yoder. "He is coming from very successful programs at Concord High School as a part of conference, sectional, regional, and semi state championship teams and knows what it takes to be successful."
A four-year letterman in both sports, Witkowski was named All Northern Lakes Conference as a junior in cross country. He followed that up with another all conference nod to go with all section, all region, and honorable mention all state as a senior.
Witkowski's best 5K time in cross country is 16:34, while he posted career bests in the mile (4:39) and two mile (9:57) during his junior track season.
"He is a very hard worker and will bring that along with great leadership skills," Yoder added. "We are very excited about the opportunity for Andrew to continue his academic and athletic careers at Goshen College."
A four-year scholar-athlete, Witkowski is also a member of the orchestra and the NCAA Ambassadors Mentoring Program. The son of Kathy and Dan Witkowski, Andrew plans on majoring in Communication (Broadcasting) at Goshen.
