Maple Leafs Take Time Out From Preseason For Service
Today, member of the men's tennis team headed into the local community to spend the day painting the interior of a house. The house is part of a program hosted by local organization LaCasa, Inc. LaCasa helps provide housing and other relevant training to low to mid-range income households in the Elkhart County area. For more information on LaCasa, Inc. visit their website. Also, earlier in the week, the women's soccer team lent a hand at The Depot, a local thrift store whose profits go to sponsor peace and relief projects throughout the world.
While these are just two small examples of team service projects, it is an early start to what has become a "Culture of Service" for the Goshen College Athletic Department. Last year, the department implemented "Leaf Relief", which become a series of projects to benefit the local as well as international community. Several thousand dollars of funds were raised, with much of that being designated to Lacasa.
