FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Goshen College women's tennis team won a season-high five games in doubles action Tuesday in a 9-0 loss at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne's Swinney Park.

Brittany Kuhlenbeck, Kaylin Gibson and Rebecca Faber each won twice for Saint Francis, with the former two players winning 6-0, 6-0 at no. 2 and no. 5 singles respectively. Elsie Koop Liechty and Mezrae Watt battled Gibson and Shelby Richardson to an 8-3 defeat at no. 2 doubles while Chloe Woodward and Megan Ewing pushed Kuhlenbeck and Gibson to an 8-2 margin at the top spot.

The win pushed Saint Francis (1-5, 1-5) into a tie in the games-back column with Mount Vernon Nazarene for the final spot in next month's eight-team Crossroads League tournament. Goshen (0-5, 0-5) sits half a game behind.

Goshen has nearly a full week off, with about 163 hours separating the end of Tuesday's contest from a match at Spring Arbor next Tuesday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the Jones Tennis Complex in Jackson County, Michigan.

More, including comments from Goshen coach Evan Atkinson, to come when available.
