PASADENA, Calif. — Allison Ebersole needed barely more than half an hour to open her scoring account for the Goshen College women's soccer team in a 1-1 season-opening draw Wednesday night at Providence Christian College.

Ebersole, who scored 36 goals in 36 games over two seasons at Hesston College in Kansas, equalized with 13:42 to play in the first half after the Sea Beggars (1-1-1) had scored the game's first goal exactly two minutes prior.

Katie Baer made nine saves in goal for Goshen (0-0-1), stopping all but the fourth one that she faced when Adrina Palacios scored in the 30th minute. Ebersole's strike was Goshen's first attempt on frame of the season.

The Maple Leafs outshot Providence Christian 14-11 over the final 65 minutes, including putting three shots on goal in the 20-minute overtime. Each team took three corner kicks.

Four Goshen starters made their collegiate debuts, with freshman Baer joined by classmate Brenda Tellez, sophomore Londyn Feasel and junior Ebersole. Of the eight reserves to see action, six were first-year Maple Leafs.

Ebersole and defender Carolina Villalobos Palacios was the only Goshen players with multiple shots: of the 12 players who shot, nine put chances on target. Adrina Palacios, Kaylee Medina and Becca Burney each took three or more shots for PCC.

Goshen returns to action on Friday when the Maple Leafs meet Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo, California. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. local time, which is 8:30 in Goshen. Following the cancellation of its trip to Marygrove last week, GC has also added a match at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College near Terre Haute at 5 p.m. next Tuesday.

More, including comments from Goshen head coach Scott Gloden, to come when available.
