INDIANAPOLIS — Goshen College junior Caitlin Hughey has been named the Crossroads League women's track athlete of the week for the week ending April 30. The conference office announced the honor Monday.

Hughey won two events and finished second in a third on Saturday at the Lancer Invitational hosted by Grace College in Winona Lake. She placed first in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, finishing in 13.32 and 28.05 seconds respectively. Her 100-meter time was a new collegiate best for the Muskegon, Michigan, native, while both sprint marks established new facility records at the Key Track and Field Complex.

Hughey, who also holds Goshen's program record in the indoor 200-meter dash, additionally participated in the Maple Leafs' second-place 4x400-meter relay team, which finished in 4:30.68. Her three results helped account for more than one-third of Goshen's 66 team points, which were a season high.

The victory marked Goshen's first conference Athlete of the Week honor in women's track and field since race walker Abby Dunn won on Feb. 10, 2014; she is the first female sprinter to win the award for Goshen and the first Maple Leaf to claim the weekly recognition in an outdoor track event. The conference began awarding Athlete of the Week honors in track and field in the 2010-11 season.

The Crossroads League selects one or more players of the week each week in the league's 15 sponsored sports, based on nominations from each of the league's 10 member schools. Winners are eligible for NAIA national player of the week consideration.
