Springer Design Maple Leaf Athlete of the Week (4/17): Clinton Stroble II

GOSHEN, Ind. — Sophomore catcher Clinton Stroble II of the Goshen College baseball team has been named Springer Design Maple Leaf Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 16, the GC athletic department announced Tuesday morning.

The Newport News, Virginia, native led Goshen with a .522 batting average in 23 at bats last week, posting 12 hits including a pair of doubles and four home runs. He drove in nine runs and racked up a 1.130 slugging percentage while accumulating a team-high 33 putouts on defense.

Stroble finished the week batting 395 with six home runs and 40 runs batted in for the season, leading the team in all three categories. His 58 hits also lead the team, while his 13 doubles are two short of the team lead but are tied for the ninth-most in a season in school history.

After opening their week of competition with a doubleheader against Lourdes on Monday, one in which Stroble homered for the fifth time in seven days, the Maple Leafs host Taylor on Wednesday before traveling to Grace for a weekend series on Friday and Saturday.
