Ciudad Wins Twice In Early Spring Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Juan Miguel Ciudad posted a pair of wins Sunday afternoon as the Goshen College men's tennis team lost 6-3 to Indiana Tech in a match played at Swinney Park in Fort Wayne.

Ciudad won at no. 3 singles and no. 2 doubles for the Maple Leafs (4-10). In doubles action, he paired with Eric Zuercher to post an 8-6 win in the closest match of that segment before prevailing 6-4, 3-6, (10-7) in singles play.

The Warriors (5-3) claimed two of the three doubles matches before sweeping the bottom three singles points in straight sets to claim the team match. Fernando Sousa and Kino de Leon each won twice for Indiana Tech, which saw all six of its players win at least one match on the day.

Kartikeya Sharma won in straight sets at no. 2 singles for Goshen.
