INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlyn O'Neal sank a team-high three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points Saturday afternoon as the Goshen College women's basketball team lost 86-51 at fourth-ranked Marian University in each team's Crossroads League regular-season finale.

After struggling to eclipse the Maple Leafs in the first quarter-hour, Marian (27-3, 17-1) used a 29-point third quarter in which it shot 60 percent from the floor to pull away. The Knights led 17-15 after a quarter and 42-29 at halftime.

Lynnia Noel paced the Maple Leafs (13-17, 7-11) with seven points after halftime and finished with 12 for the game. Carley O'Neal added nine points and Gabby Williams finished with six, putting her over the 1,000-point mark at four-year colleges (combining two years at Goshen with one at McKendree University).

Marian's Kellie Kirkhoff led all players with 23 points, including four treys: she scored 10 of the Knights' first 15 points and added eight more in the third quarter. Jessica Almeida added 14 points, with all but three coming in the second stanza.

The hosts finished the game shooting 44.8 percent (30-for-67) from the floor despite missing 22 of their 31 three-point tries. Goshen was 20-for-60 (33.3 percent) overall and 4-for-18 (22.2 percent) from distance, while Marian sank 17 of its 19 foul shots.

Jenna Sullivan and Dejah Cyrus each led Marian with seven rebounds while Joana Soeiro accumulated six assists and Almeida four. Noel and Williams paced GC with five caroms each with Noel adding two assists.

Each team struggled to hang onto the basketball as Marian turned it over 14 times to Goshen's 15. The Knights converted those giveaways to 20 points, however, as opposed to 7 in the other direction.

The loss, coupled with a Bethel loss to Saint Francis and a Mount Vernon Nazarene win over Huntington, leaves the Maple Leafs in a three-way tie for seventh in the conference. Coach Stephanie Miller's team received the eighth seed in the CL tournament and will travel to Marian again on Tuesday in a quarterfinal. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Physical Education Center.
