GOSHEN, Ind. – After a one-week hiatus, the Springer Design Maple Leaf Athlete of the Week returns with sophomore men's soccer goaltender Dean Nafziger getting the nod for action taking place between September 6-12, 2013.
Nafziger was in net for a pair of Maple Leaf victories last week, helping Goshen to a 2-0 mark while improving to .500 (3-3-1) in Crossroads League play. They defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene 1-0 in overtime on Tuesday and then knocked off host Marian 2-0 in Indianapolis on Saturday.
The Maple Leafs have pitched four straight shutouts in league play, holding opponents scoreless for 413 straight minutes in league contests. Nafziger has a 1.53 goals against average this season and ranks #31 in the country with 61 saves.
The Maple Leaf Athlete of the week is sponsored by Springer Design, Inc. and is chosen each Monday by a committee of Goshen College personnel.
