MEN'S OPENING KICK
SHOOTING FOR 500: The Maple Leafs won their 499th game all-time on Saturday and are shooting for a historic 500th win this week. At 499-323-51, they are the sixth winningest program (total wins) in NAIA history and would also become just the second four-year institution in the state of Indiana (IU Bloomington the other) with 500 wins on the soccer pitch.
SHUTOUT WINS: Both of the Maple Leafs contests last week were shutout wins. They have won three straight conference matches by shutout (plus a 0-0 draw at Huntington) and have not given up a goal in league play in 413-plus minutes.
WITHOUT A LOSS: Goshen is without a loss in its last five matches, going 4-0-1 during that span. They have out scored opponents 7-2 during the stretch.
WOMEN'S OPENING KICK
OFFENSIVE/ DEFENSIVE WEEK: Goshen lost two drastically different matches last week. They dropped a 6-3 slugfest with Saint Francis on Tuesday night and then fell to Taylor 1-0 in a defensive struggle.
DOWN THE HOMESTRETCH: The Maple Leafs will wrap up the Crossroads League regular season this week by traveling to Marian and hosting Spring Arbor. They have a non-conference Senior Night contest with Trine University slated for next Tuesday.
PLAYOFF FIGHT: The Maple Leafs enter the week in ninth place in the Crossroads League standings, one spot out of the conference tournament with three points. They are just one win from tying with Taylor and Bethel for the last spots, but they lost to both of them so they would not qualify due to tiebreakers. That means, they will need at least a win and a tie this week to qualify for the postseason tournament for the first time since 2007.
