GOSHEN, Ind. – The Leafs Crossroads League woes continued, as the Maple Leafs fall to Indiana Wesleyan by a final result of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-18 Saturday afternoon.
Junior Melanie Meyer led the Leafs with seven kills, with Abby Short and Emily Waits chipping in five each on the night. Missy Mackowiak led the Goshen defense with 25 digs, while sophomore Kelsey Smith had 23 assists.
All-American Kristine Egebrecht had 15 kills to lead the Wildcats, who hit .275 as a team in the win.
"I thought we played with a lot of enthusiasm and I saw improvement from last night," head coach Jim Routhier said.
The Leafs continue their tough Crossroads League schedule as they face Mount Vernon Nazarene on Tuesday at the Roman Gingerich Recreation-Fitness Center.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Less than 24 hours earlier, the Maple Leafs were swept on the road, 25-14, 25-5, 25-15 by Marian University.
The Knights slugged .337 as a team, while the Leafs had just 20 kills at a .061 clip. Meyer was again the high players for Goshen with six kills, while Mackowiak had nine digs. Becky Gramer led Marian with 14 kills.
