GOSHEN, Ind .- The Goshen College Maple Leafs have made an addition to their Cross Country and Track teams with Goshen High School senior Luke Kaufman officially signing a national letter of intent.
Head Coach Doug Yoder is very happy to have Kaufman join the team in the 2013-2014 seasons, saying "Luke will bring great ability to the cross country and track programs likely fitting into the top five to seven of the cross country team. He will help keep the quality of the program where it has been the last couple of years. It is exciting to add Luke to what is going to be a great recruiting class for next year."
Kaufman's High School coaches Mike Wynn and Brock Maust have recorded his top times to be 16:10 in the 5k, 3200 meter at 9:51, 1600 at 4:33, and the 800 in 2:01. While on the GHS team he has received awards such as MVP in Cross Country in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons as well as receiving all-conference recognition in those two seasons.
In addition to being a top contender on his high school team he is also an excellent student, being a regular on the High Honor Roll at GHS. He is also involved in the Marching Band and the Winter Percussion.
The son of Jeanine and Rod Kaufman, Luke intends to enroll at Goshen College as a Nursing major. Both the athletic and academic programs at Goshen College are looking forward to the new addition.
