GOSHEN, Ind.- The Goshen College Women's Volleyball team hosted non-conference opponent Aquinas College at Gunden Gymnasium at Goshen College Tuesday evening.

The teams fought hard throughout the night's four-set match, but in the end Aquinas pulled out the win in the fourth set 25-23, 25-19, 15-25, 25-21.

"Aquinas had a great defense and we could not get many of our attacks to go for kills," head coach Jim Routhier explained.  "I really thought we would come back after we won the third set, but Aquinas really came out strong in the fourth set and we couldn't rally to win.  We have a few days to prepare for IUSB so we will be ready for them."

Top hitters for the Maple Leafs included senior Hannah Grieser with 13 kills, sophomore Jamie Stack with 10 kills, and sophomore Melanie Meyer with 9 kills. Leading in assists was junior setter Stacy Wyse and leading in digs was sophomore libero Missy Mackowiak with 38 digs.

Both teams struggled to put the ball away offensively, hitting just .104 (Aquinas) and .083 (Goshen).  The teams also combined for 231 digs on the night, including 124 for the Maple Leafs.

The Lady Leafs see their next play against Indiana University South Bend on Saturday, November 3rd. The team is now 15-20 overall and 8-10 in the Crossroads League.
