WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Goshen College women's soccer team closed its 2012 season, losing 6-2 to host Grace College Tuesday afternoon.
Attempting to finish the year on a high note, the Maple Leafs started hot against the Lancers (received votes in the latest NAIA national poll). Junior Emily Fretz scored her fourth goal of the season - off a Juliana da Silva assist - less than 10 minutes into the contest.
After that, though, it was all Mallory Rondeau and Grace. The freshman scored three times in a less than 20-minute span to give the Lancers a 4-1 halftime advantage.
The hosts added three more strikes in the second half before da Silva scored her first goal as a Maple Leaf to cap the scoreline.
Grace out shot Goshen 19-10 on the afternoon, but just 12-8 on frame. In her final collegiate contest, Lynn Weaver made six saves.
The Maple Leafs finish head coach Fabio dos Santos' second season at 5-13 overall and 1-8 in Crossroads League play.
