GOSHEN, Ind. – Sophomore Melanie Meyer (Elkhart, Ind.) and junior Stacy Wyse (Archbold, Ohio) have been recognized by both the Goshen College Athletic Department and the Crossroads League for their parts in leading the Maple Leafs volleyball team to a perfect 3-0 mark.
Meyer was named the Crossroads League Hitter and Player of the Week, Wyse was selected at the Crossroads League Setter of the Week, and the duo shared honors as the Springer Design Maple Leaf Athletes of the Week.
Meyer posted double digits in kills in all three matches, helping Goshen to their first three-match winning streak in Crossroads League play. She slugged a strong .299 on the week, which included a match-high 19 kills in an upset of #24 Taylor (the program's first win over the Trojans since 1991). She also had eight service aces, 17 digs, and eight blocks on the week.
Wyse tallied 40 or more assists in all three matches. In the upset of #24 Taylor, the junior added seven kills and 14 digs. On the week, she totaled 152 assists, 33 digs (11 per match), three aces, and four blocks.
