SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Goshen College women's cross country team continued its season at the Bethel College Invitational at St. Patrick's Park in South Bend Friday night.
The Maple Leafs took sixth place after logging 158 points. Aquinas College won the event with just 31 points as one of four teams in the field which has received national attention in the NAIA national polls.
"Our women's team had another great outing," head coach Doug Yoder said. "Our one to five average was 20:20, which is our best by far this year."
Leading the way was sophomore Ali Hochstetler who finished 17th overall in 19:27.3. The remainder of the Maple Leafs' top seven all finished within one minute of each other.
Freshman Cynthia Medina was 30th in 20:09.6, junior Alli Beitler clocked in at 20:37.6, junior Audrey Thill in 20:39.2, freshman Irene Schmid finished 39th in 20:51.0, senior Erin Helmuth 44th in 21:06.8 and freshman Hannah Barg finished in 21:07.3.
"Ali Hochstetler ran a good, relaxed race and her time showed that," Yoder added. "Alli Beitler and Audrey Thill also ran solid times for us and Hannah Barg had a breakthrough race cutting two minutes off her previous best time."
Both teams will be back in action when they participate in the Great Lake Challenge in Grand Rapids on October 20.
