Maple Leaf Athlete of the Week (9/23-30): Krishnan Ganesan

GOSHEN, Ind. – Junior Krishnan Ganesan is the first men's tennis recipient of  the Springer Design Maple Leaf Athlete of the Week in 2012-13.  He was selected for action taking place between September 23-30.

In three dual matches between Sunday and Wednesday, Ganesan rolled off a perfect 6-0 mark (singles and doubles combined).  

At the No. 4 singles spot, his most critical match came Sunday against Saint Joseph.  The last match on the courts with the team score tied 4-4, the junior lost the first set, but rallied for a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) to clinch the Leafs first win in five matches.  Then, he dropped just one game on way to straight-set victories over Bethel on Tuesday and Trine on Wednesday.

In doubles action, Ganesan was and his teammates went 3-0, losing just eight total games in three matches.  Over the weekend, Gansean also compiled a 2-2 singles mark at the Valparaiso University Fall Invite with his only defeats coming to NCAA DI opponents.
