GOSHEN, Ind.- The Goshen College women's tennis team lost to conference rival Bethel College on Tuesday evening at the Goshen Courts. The loss officially knocked the Lady Leafs out of the Crossroads League Team Tournament.
Senior Nikita Zook was able to pull out the only point of the night for Goshen, beating a tough opponent, Bethel's Melissa Ramer 6-4 and 7-5. In other action, Maddie Ruth was outlasted 13-11 in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 6 singles.
"Anika Baumgartner also played another great match losing to one of the top players in the conference," said head coach Doug Gossman of his number one singles player.
Another tough win was found for Rebekah Steiner who got her first singles win at the number seven position 8-5. The team battled a through a tough conference game but in the end could not pull out a "W".
The Lady Leafs fell to the Pilots 1-8 and are now 0-10 overall and 0-8 in Crossroads League play. Their next match is Wednesday afternoon against Trine University at the Goshen College Tennis Complex.
