ANGOLA, Ind. – Freshman Ben Pollitt (Helsby, England) closed out the 2011-12 season for the Goshen College men's golf team by shooting an 87 at the Gettig Invitational on Saturday.
The event featured eight teams and nine additional individuals at the 6,384-yard Zollner Golf Course on the campus of Trine University.
Pollitt carded a 40 on the front nine, but struggle on the back nine, coming in with a 47 to take 42nd overall during a windy and rainy round.
"It was not his best performance, but his putting has come a long way and he left about six putts sitting on the lip," head coach Allison Bailey explained. "Two bad holes were what separated him from being in the 70's."
Bailey has already added a number of quality student-athletes to the 2012-13 roster and will continue to prepare the Maple Leafs for action which will start in late August. Late this summer will also see the debut of the Goshen College women's golf program, also to be coached by Bailey.
