GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen College head cross country and track coach Doug Yoder recently announced the addition of South Adams High School (Berne, Ind.) standout Tim Lehman to a national letter of intent.
"Tim will be a great addition to the track team in the middle distance and relay events and will also fit in well with the cross country team adding depth and having the potential to be an addition to our top seven runners," Yoder explained. "He is a great student and a hard worker in the classroom and on the field. It is great to keep the South Adams High School connection going."
Former All American track star and current assistant coach Melissa Gillette and current Maple Leaf Alli Beitler (along with several other athletes on other Maple Leaf teams) also competed at South Adams.
Lehman was named to the All Allen County Athletic Conference teams in both cross country and track. In cross country, Lehman helped the Starfires to a conference title and semi-state appearance last fall.
On the track, though, is where he made the most noise. He was part of school record teams in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays, while qualifying for regionals in the two relays as well as individually at each distance (400 and 800 meters).
Apart from running, Lehman is part of the National Honor Society, a member of the band, and the First Mennonite Church Youth Group. The son of Scott and Greta Lehman, Tim plans on studying Pre-Med at Goshen College starting this fall.
