GOSHEN, Ind. - For the second-straight week, a softball player has been selected as the Springer Design Maple Leaf Athlete of the Week.  Sophomore Melissa Hershberger earns the latest honor after action between March 25-31.

In ten games, the Maple Leaf right-fielder batted .436 with team highs in hits (17), runs (8), doubles (3), runs batted in (9), and total bases (20).  She struck out just twice in 39 at bats, while compiling an on-base percentage of .476.

She hit safely in all but one game during the week and had six multi-hit contests during the stretch.  Hershberger also knocked in at least one run in seven of the ten games.  On the year, the Dundee (Ohio) native is batting .353 with a team-high 13 RBIs.
