GOSHEN, Ind. – The visiting Taylor University Trojans hit 64% from the field in the first half to build a large early lead in route to a 80-55 victory over the Goshen College women's basketball team Saturday afternoon.
Taylor also drained 56% from 3-point territory, including six first-half long balls as they went into the locker rooms up 50-28 at the break. Another big difference was in distribution. The visitors dished out 25 assists, while the Maple Leafs had just seven in the contest.
Erika Redweik led all scorers with 20 points on 10-of-17 shooting. She led four Trojans (15-7, 5-5 MCC) in double figures, which also included Kelci Freds (18), Erin Guarneri (11) and Tess Rudolph (10).
A pair of freshman posts led the way for Goshen as Seirria Burlage scored 14 and Jaime Stack converted 5-of-9 from the field for 13 points.
The Maple Leafs (3-19, 0-10 MCC) continue to search for their first Mid-Central College Conference victory of the season as they host Bethel College on Tuesday at 5:30 as part of a women's/ men's double header against the Pilots.
