Maple Leaf Running Programs Awarded With Academic Honors

GOSHEN, Ind. - All six of the Goshen College running programs (men's and women's cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field) were recognized as scholar teams by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for the 2010-2011 school year.The women's cross country team was at the top of the list for the Maple Leafs with the 19th highest overall grade point average (GPA) in the entire country. Their 3.67 was the best among selections from the Mid-Central College Conference. The women's track and field teams came in at 3.48, while the men's teams had averages of 3.19 (cross country) and 3.01 (track and field).For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution.
