ALLISON BAILEY SELECTED TO LEAD MAPLE LEAF GOLF PROGRAMS (Aug. 15) - Goshen College Athletics Director Tim Demant announced the hiring of Allison Bailey as the Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach on Monday, completing the 2011-12 Maple Leaf coaching staff.

"I am very excited that we have been able to find such a quality coach to lead our golf programs," Demant explained.  "Allison's experience, work ethic, character and expertise will be an immediate benefit to our golfers.  Her knowledge and experience in the game will help our golfers maximize their abilities and take steps toward being a championship program."

A 2004 graduate of Elkhart Central High School, Bailey (then Rodino) was the school's Female Athlete of the Year as a senior.  Her tenure included four All-Northern Indiana Conference honors, three team MVP awards, and a selection to the Indiana Golf Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.  Bailey then took her talents to Tri-State University - now Trine University - in Angola (Ind.).  She became a two-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association pick for the Thunder while earning a degree in Business Administration.

SUB 80 ROUND ON DAY TWO OF THRILL AT THE HILL (Mar. 28) - The spring golf season officially got underway as freshman Ben Pollitt (Helsby, England) participated in Indiana Tech's The Thrill at the Hill. The two-day event was held at the Donald Ross Course at French Lick Resort, a long (nearly 7,100 yards) par 70 course constructed in 1917.  On day one, Pollitt carded an 89 in just his second career competitive round in the United States.  The first round left him in the back half of the pack and set up the opportunity for a strong move on day two. "The course was playing extremely long and the rough was very thick," head coach Allison Bailey explained.  "Ben played decent and was hitting some great shots, but couldn't put everything together." Putting things together is exactly what he did on day two.   The freshman fired a 79 in the second round, his first career round under 80.  The strong day allowed him to move up 20 spots in the large field and finish the two days 58th overall (168).
